Spinal Infections

Infections in the vertebrae (spondylitis), discs (discitis), or spinal membranes can cause pain that doesn’t subside with prolonged rest, fever, fatigue, and sometimes neurological symptoms. Diagnosis is made through blood tests, MRI imaging, and biopsy if necessary.

What are the stages of treatment?

Surgical Treatment

Abscess drainage, nerve compression relief, or surgical cleaning and stabilization of the spine may be necessary in cases of collapse or instability.

Non-Surgical Treatment

Targeted and adequate antibiotic treatment is essential. Pain control, rest, and appropriate supportive treatments are applied. Management of comorbidities such as diabetes is important.
