Lumbar and Cervical Dislocations
(Spondylolisthesis)
Spondylolisthesis is a condition where one vertebra slips forward or backward over the vertebra below it. It can be caused by congenital structural abnormalities, wear and tear, stress fractures, or trauma. Typical symptoms include lower back and neck pain, leg and arm pain and numbness, and difficulty standing for long periods.
What are the stages of treatment?
Surgical Treatment
In cases of advanced slippage, nerve compression, or resistance to conservative treatment, nerve relief and spinal stabilization with screw-rod systems are applied. The aim is to reduce pain and preserve nerve function.
Non-Surgical Treatment
Symptoms can be controlled with pain relievers, targeted physical therapy, strengthening of trunk and neck muscles, and, where appropriate, the use of a brace. Weight management and ergonomics are also important.
